CoreLok® System
 For open-graded and absorptive asphalt mixtures, the Saturated Surface Dry method is inaccurate. Water
infiltration into and out of the sample produces a lower-than-actual measurement for sample volume, higher
calculated density, and a lower estimate of air voids. CoreLok seals the sample without wax dipping, film
wrapping, or trimming. It eliminates water infiltration and ensures accurate test results. With repeated testing
of 6” and 4” samples, precision is ±0.002 g/cm3.

 ASTM and AASHTO standards say your nuclear surface density gauge should be verified every 12 months and
calibrated every 24 months. But some gauges function accurately even after one year of use, while others might
